King, Queen arrive for opening of second session of 15th Parliament


PETALING JAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah arrived at the Parliament building in Kuala Lumpur at about 10am for the opening ceremony of the second session of the 15th Parliament on Monday (Feb 13).

On arrival, Their Majesties were welcomed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Dewan Negara President Tan Sri Rais Yatim and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul.

This was followed by the playing of the national anthem.

The Agong then inspected a guard of honour from the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.

His Majesty is expected to deliver the Royal Decree later Monday.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail arrived at the Parliament complex at 9.50am.

The Dewan Rakyat will sit from Feb 13 until March 30 followed by the Dewan Negara from March 21 until April 6.

The 2023 Budget will be tabled in Parliament on Feb 24.
